A PENKETH has stormed to victory at a Battle of the Bands competition.

Guilty Warfare were the only band from Warrington in the Redland Promotions contest in Liverpool.

Aged between 16 and 17 years old, Matt Harland (vocals and rhythm guitar), Daryl Viles (lead guitar and backing vocals), James Astley (bass guitar) and Tom Jordie' Jordan (drums) have been playing together for the past years.

And their hard work paid off when they beat runners-up Edge of Mentality by nearly 750 votes.

Manager Dale Viles said: "The atmosphere on the night was electric, all the bands were up for it in a big way.

"Guilty Warfare sold 82 tickets and we took a 55-seater coach full of screaming fans. To be honest we couldn't have done it without them - they were incredible."

He added: "Guilty Warfare would like to give a big, big thank you to everyone that came to see us and voted on the night and to everyone that text voted for us. We really couldn't have done it without you."

The band's prize includes studio recording time and the chance to meet major label executives.
