NORTHERN Rail is to introduce parking charges at several stations in Cheshire, including one in Warrington.
Motorists parking at stations around the county will soon have to start paying between 50p and £2.
The train operator says doing so will help them invest in their car parks and reduce their reliance on taxpayer subsidies.
The new fee will apply to Padgate Station.
A spokesperson for Northern said: “We have proposals for a number of stations across the whole of our network to change or introduce car parking charges.
“We are talking to local groups and residents about these proposals, which have not been finalised yet.
"We are confident the new charges will ensure sufficient space is available for rail customers, discourage overnight parking at a number of stations, help us to fund investment in our car parks and reduce our reliance on taxpayer subsidy.”
Daily tariffs of £2 and short two-hour tariffs of 50p will be introduced at the end of May at six stations in Cheshire, along with overnight resident parking permits.
The stations in question are Adlington, Cuddington, Delamere, Disley, Mouldsworth and Padgate.
